For everything there is a season…

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,

(I am here but I will not be forever.)

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

(Sow within myself words of affirmation and dig out those negative tapes that play in my head.)

a time to kill and a time to heal,

(Let go of unhealthy relationships and learn, grow and change.)

a time to tear down and a time to build,

(Tear down the walls of isolation and build new healthy relationships.)

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

(Cry when I need to cry but don’t stay complacent in misery and pain. I will move on and find the joy in life that makes me laugh.)

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

(I can mourn the loss of a relationship and I can celebrate new, healthy relationships.)

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

(Throw away the broken foundation I had built my life upon and begin laying a new and healthy foundation.)

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

(Hold on to the things that are healthy and bring me joy and peace. Don’t hold onto things that bring chaos and doubt into my life.)

a time to search and a time to give up,

(I must learn and grow and change and let go of expectations of others.)

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

(Keep those mementos that bring back cherished memories and get rid of those things that only remind me of painful times.)

a time to tear and a time to mend,

(I cannot keep my heart from being broken; it will happen, but I can take the necessary steps to heal.)

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

(I do not have to engage in unhealthy conversations but I will use my voice when something is harming me in any way.)

a time to love and a time to hate,

(I can love a person right where they’re at in life but it’s okay to hate their actions.)

a time for war and a time for peace.

(I will fight with everything I have to maintain my emotional health and happiness. There will be times that I just need to let go and let God.)
