I went from zero…to my own hero!

I was running some errands yesterday and listening to the radio, having my own little karaoke fest in my car, when Katy Perry’s song, “Roar” came on. I’ve heard this song just a few times before but never really paid attention to the lyrics. Well, they caught my attention yesterday. For some reason, it hit me that this should be every recovering codependent’s anthem. There aren’t a ton of lyrics but I related to every single one of them. I especially loved the line, “I went from zero, to my own hero”.

That’s exactly how I use to feel…like a Zero. I liked nothing about myself and really didn’t think there was anything for anyone else to like either. I would “sit quietly”, I did “agree politely”. I tried my hardest to never “rock the boat”. I “stood for nothing” and I “feel for everything”. It really made me think but it really lifted me up.

Today, I CAN say that I am “my own hero” and not only can I say it, I BELIEVE it. I worked hard to get to where I am today. I fell many, many times but “I got up”!

“I am a fighter” and I did/do “dance through the fire”. For me, there is no other choice because I WANT a better life and I WANT to be a better person.

Today, ‘I AM A CHAMPION” and SO ARE YOU!!!

I hope this song inspires you just as much! I chose this one because I love marching bands (no one knew that, LOL) and it’s just awesome!
